Who We Are

Green Liberia Climate Change & Poverty Mitigators (GLCCPM) is an environmental and social organization, dedicated to addressing climate change and poverty in Liberia through sustainable reforestation. We strive to create long-term ecological and economic resilience by integrating environmental restoration with community empowerment. As a result, reforestation efforts not only revitalize Liberia’s forests but also provide sustainable livelihoods to local populations, effectively linking environmental recovery to poverty alleviation.

At the heart of GLCCPM’s approach is sustainable reforestation, which serves as both an environmental and economic solution. The organization combines tree-planting initiatives with community education and agroforestry programs, ensuring that reforestation efforts are maintained and generate ongoing benefits. Moreover, by promoting sustainable land use and providing alternative income sources, GLCCPM enables communities to thrive while protecting and regenerating their natural environment.

Ultimately, this approach not only helps mitigate the impacts of climate change but also ensures that reforestation contributes to poverty reduction, offering a model for how ecological restoration and economic development can work together harmoniously.

Our Core Values

Sustainable Reforestation

Our History

In 2014, Joseph Hoffman, a man shaped by hardship and exile, founded the Green Liberia Climate Change & Poverty Mitigators (GLCCPM) to bring hope and healing to his war-ravaged country. Liberia had endured 14 years of brutal civil war, and Joseph, like many others, had lived through the chaos and extreme poverty. When the conflict finally ended, he returned home, determined to make a difference.

Joseph began by offering direct aid to the poorest communities, but he soon realized that charity alone was not enough. The deeper problems of environmental degradation, deforestation, and food insecurity demanded a more sustainable approach. From this realization, GLCCPM was born—a grassroots movement to empower rural communities, restore the environment, and build a better future.

With a vision for long-term change, Joseph launched initiatives that combined reforestation and agriculture, helping communities to plant trees, grow food, and rebuild their lives. He believed in the power of education, so GLCCPM also began teaching civic and environmental responsibility, encouraging people to take control of their own futures.

GLCCPM’s efforts have transformed countless lives. Through the organization’s work, barren lands have been revived, families have been fed, and communities have found renewed strength. What began as one man’s mission to help his people has grown into a powerful movement of hope, resilience, and sustainable progress.

Today, GLCCPM continues to expand, working towards a future where no one in Liberia is left behind. Joseph Hoffman’s vision lives on, showing the world that even in the face of devastation, the seeds of hope can take root and grow into something extraordinary.

Degraded Lands Restoration and Benefits

Green Liberia Climate Change & Poverty Mitigators established strong relationships and trust with local communities to facilitate the acquisition of degraded lands. By guiding communities towards alternative income opportunities, the organization helps reduce the pressure on Liberia’s remaining rainforests. This strategy supports sustainable land use practices and promotes environmental conservation, while simultaneously providing economic benefits and enhancing community resilience

Thanks to our initiative, this degraded landscape has been restored and transformed from savanna to evergreen.
