Tree Planting & Degraded Lands Restoration

Tree planting and degraded lands restoration are central to Green Liberia Climate Change & Poverty Mitigators’ efforts to address deforestation, climate change, and rural poverty. By planting trees on degraded and deforested lands, Green Liberia helps restore ecosystem functions such as soil fertility, water regulation, and biodiversity while increasing forest cover. This approach reduces pressure on Liberia’s remaining rainforests by providing alternative sources of forest resources and rehabilitating landscapes that have been damaged by unsustainable land-use practices.

Capacity Building

Sustainable Forest Management & Capacity-Building

Green Liberia Climate Change & Poverty Mitigators integrates sustainable forest management (SFM) into its core mission of restoring degraded landscapes, protecting Liberia’s remaining rainforests, and addressing climate change and poverty simultaneously. Through tree planting and land restoration activities, GLCCPM focuses on reducing pressure on natural forests by rehabilitating degraded lands and promoting responsible land-use practices. This approach supports biodiversity conservation, improves soil and water resources, and contributes to climate change mitigation while aligning environmental restoration with community needs.

Community Empowerment

Community Empowerment & Poverty Alleviation

Community empowerment and poverty alleviation are at the core of Green Liberia Climate Change & Poverty Mitigators’ mission to address environmental and social challenges together. Green Liberia works directly with rural communities to ensure that local people are not just beneficiaries, but active participants in decision-making and project implementation. By involving communities in environmental initiatives, the organization strengthens local ownership, builds confidence, and promotes self-reliance as a foundation for sustainable development.

Empowering rural children through education

As poverty in rural Liberia rises a growing number of children are unable to enroll in school. Even those that enrolled are forced out of school and onto the streets to help families make ends meet. This situation threatens to leave another generation locked out of the opportunities that come with education, and that can break the cycle of extreme poverty that has plagued rural communties.
